Job summary

Gunnison Consulting Group in Alexandria, VA, seeks a senior cybersecurity leader to architect, deploy, and maintain security products and services. You will lead cyber architecture, engineering, and security operations to strengthen enterprise security posture.

Hybrid work arrangement requires 2–3 days on site in Alexandria; a full-time on-site start is expected for the first 30 days. US citizenship is required, and a Public Trust clearance may be pursued.

Qualifications

• US citizenship required.
• BS in IT/Cybersecurity/CS or related field or equivalent experience.
• 8–10 years of cybersecurity and security operations.
• 5+ years directing SOC activities and managing personnel.
• Experience overseeing threat detection, incident escalation, security analytics, and monitoring operations.
• Experience coordinating security across enterprise, hybrid, and cloud environments.
• Experience managing and optimizing SIEM, EDR, XDR, SOAR, and other monitoring platforms.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.

*This position is contingent upon a future opening with Gunnison.

Salary: $170,000 - $190,000/year

Work location: Hybrid, 2-3 days per week on-site in Alexandria, VA. The first 30 days of work will be full-time on-site.

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Responsible for the ability to implement the various phases of Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation, establishing baselines for security tools to ensure proper configuration and deployment, architecting, deploying, and maintaining security products and services, and recommending and implementing solutions for protecting data throughout its lifecycle.
• Lead cybersecurity architecture, engineering, and security operations activities to strengthen enterprise security posture and reduce organizational risk.

Requirements

• US citizenship required.
• Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field OR equivalent additional experience.
• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in cybersecurity and security operations.
• Minimum 5 years of experience directing Security Operations Center (SOC) activities and managing security operations personnel.
• Demonstrated experience overseeing threat detection, event triage, incident escalation, security analytics development, and enterprise security monitoring operations.
• Experience coordinating security operations across enterprise, hybrid, and cloud environments.
• Experience managing and optimizing SIEM, EDR, XDR, SOAR, and other cybersecurity monitoring and response platforms.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.

• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
• Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
• GIAC certifications such as:
  • GCIH (GIAC Certified Incident Handler)
  • GCIA (GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst)
• Microsoft security certifications such as:
  • SC-200 (Security Operations Analyst Associate)
  • AZ-500 (Azure Security Engineer Associate)
• Experience supporting federal agencies

The salary range for this position depends upon multiple factors including location, the individual's knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, and contract-specific budget constraints and organizational requirements.
Gunnison Consulting Group's total compensation package also includes bonus and profit-sharing opportunities, depending on company and employee performance. Available employee benefits include:
