Job summary

RENK America is seeking a motivated Cybersecurity Intern to join our IT security team in Muskegon, Michigan. This hands-on internship provides exposure to enterprise-grade cybersecurity tools, networks, and security operations as you work with experienced professionals to strengthen our security posture across systems, networks, and endpoints.

You will assist with VM deployments, firewall monitoring, SIEM tuning, AD/GPO management, vulnerability remediation, and phishing awareness campaigns,

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Junior or Senior level
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems, especially in a virtualized environment.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching).
• Exposure to security tools and platforms, such as firewalls, SIEM, endpoint protection, and vulnerability scanners.
• Understanding of Group Policy, Active Directory, and basic Windows domain infrastructure.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
• Eagerness to learn and stay updated on cybersecurity trends and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in deploying and managing virtual machines for testing and threat simulations.
• Support firewall configuration and central network security management.
• Work with SIEM for log collection, correlation, and alerts tuning.
• Participate in VLAN creation, segmentation, and network layout.
• Assist with AD and GPO management and troubleshooting.
• Support vulnerability remediation by applying patches with system owners.
• Contribute to monitoring and reporting using endpoint management and DLP.
• Help plan and run internal phishing campaigns to raise security awareness.
