Job summary

Charles River Associates (CRA) is seeking a qualified Associate for the Forensic Services practice to execute security investigations and provide expert digital forensics support. The role emphasizes data‑driven analysis, evidence handling, and collaboration with counsel to deliver insightful results.

The position requires knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, strong communication, and experience with forensics tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a relevant academic focus (Computer Science, Digital Forensics, Information Security and/or Information Systems)
• 2-4 years of relevant work experience in financial/economic analysis, preferably in a consulting firm
• Digital forensics/incident response training and certifications (SANS GIAC, IACIS, Magnet MCFE, X‑ways)
• Strong understanding of computer operating systems, software and hardware
• Experience with digital forensic analysis using commercial and open source tools
• Experience with malware analysis and threat hunting in a live environment
• Experience drafting technical/investigative reports and communicating findings

Responsibilities

• Execute security and privacy investigations for CRA clients, including data security breach response
• Provide expert digital forensic support for counsel and clients in data security incidents
• Draft forensic reports, affidavits and testify as an expert
• Perform forensic analysis using standard evidence handling techniques and tools
• Identify data and artifacts to support analysis and findings
• Develop familiarity with data inputs for analysis like threat intelligence and logs
• Track adversary activity via timeline analysis
• Create IOCs to bolster incident response and threat intelligence
