Job summary

Steampunk is seeking a Cybersecurity/Technical Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure systems across enterprise environments. You will support security architecture, IAM, authentication and authorization hardening, vulnerability management, and continuous monitoring throughout the system lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of cybersecurity engineering, security architecture, or related work.
• Hands-on experience securing enterprise systems and environments.
• Experience with IAM, authentication, authorization, and least-privilege principles.
• Experience identifying, assessing, tracking, and supporting remediation of vulnerabilities.
• Experience with continuous security monitoring and vulnerability management.
• Knowledge of security architecture, hardening, secure configuration, and controls.
• Experience with security monitoring, endpoint security, or cloud security technologies.
• Understanding lifecycle security integration, risk mitigation actions, and documenting findings.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement systems with security requirements across the lifecycle.
• Support security architecture and engineering to align with best practices.
• Implement and maintain IAM controls including authentication/authorization.
• Apply least-privilege access to reduce security risks.
• Assess and harden configurations, authentication, and authorization.
• Identify, assess, document, and track vulnerabilities across environments.
• Collaborate with teams to remediate vulnerabilities and weaknesses.
• Conduct follow-up assessments and continuous monitoring for new or recurring issues.
• Implement and support tools for vulnerability identification, monitoring, and control validation.
• Monitor security data to identify vulnerabilities, threats, and anomalous activity.
• Support security activities through design, implementation, operation, and changes.
• Evaluate technical changes for potential security impacts.
• Collaborate with administrators, cloud engineers, software engineers, and security teams.
• Support security documentation, remediation tracking, and reporting.
• Maintain awareness of evolving vulnerabilities and cybersecurity practices.
