Job summary

Cambridge Consultants is seeking a hands-on Cybersecurity Engineer to operate and improve security controls across our estate. You will work with the Cybersecurity team to monitor tooling, triage alerts, and coordinate remediation while collaborating with IT and business stakeholders to keep systems secure.

The role requires broad security knowledge, strong communication, and a willingness to learn across many technologies in a small, cohesive team environment.

Qualifications

• Experience triaging alerts from AV/EDR tooling such as Sophos or Defender.
• Ability to assess security risk using CVEs, CVSS scoring and remediation prioritisation.
• Experience supporting security incidents and understanding the incident response lifecycle.
• Grounding in identity and access management (Active Directory, Entra ID) and core networking concepts.
• Strong teamwork, learning mindset and ability to collaborate across IT and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate the team's core security tooling, investigate alerts and coordinate remediation activities.
• Manage vulnerability assessment activities, including vulnerability scanning, remediation tracking and risk register maintenance.
• Support the operation of email security controls, investigating and triaging suspicious email activity.
• Review software requests, approve low-risk solutions, and conduct security assessments with stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of security monitoring, processes and operational practices.
• Support administration and improvement of identity, access management and endpoint security controls (AD, Entra ID, CA, endpoints).
• Help deliver cybersecurity awareness activities and provide practical security guidance across IT and business.
• Contribute to cloud security, identity, monitoring and data protection initiatives, informed by threats.
