Job summary

Cole Engineering Services (CESI), a By Light company, is seeking a cybersecurity engineer to support DoD software development. You will define requirements, enhance security practices, and perform assessments using manual and automated tools.

The role requires DoD credentials and an on-site stance with potential travel. Ideal candidates will have an IAT Level II certification, strong experience across the software lifecycle, Linux administration, threat assessment skills, and familiarity with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent; substitution may be allowed.
• IAT Level II certification required immediately after hire.
• Experience across the SDLC in software or systems engineering.
• Linux administration, hardening (STIGs) and shell scripting/Python are a plus.
• Knowledge of threat assessment and solutions to mitigate or eliminate threats.
• Experience with offensive security tools and adversarial techniques.
• Experience implementing security controls per NIST SP 800-53.

Responsibilities

• Define cybersecurity requirements to meet program objectives.
• Provide defenses integrated into the SDLC and security principles across the lifecycle.
• Assess compliance using manual and automated software analysis tools.
• Test network-enabled and web applications with adversarial techniques to identify weaknesses.
• Interface with software development teams to apply security engineering throughout the lifecycle.
