Cybersecurity Engineer, Columbus, OH - Remote

Position Title: Cybersecurity Engineer

Summary: This position is responsible for leading and supporting efforts to secure the enterprise network infrastructure, including firewalls, Data Loss Prevention, Web Application Firewalls, and similar security controls. Lead efforts in designing, implementing, administering, and supporting enterprise security controls for both on-premise and cloud environments.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Implementation of network security strategy, including on-premise and cloud enablement, and establishing next-generation firewall features and capabilities.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations for the continuous improvement of on-premise and cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP, etc.) network security.
  • Maintain, deploy, upgrade, and troubleshoot cloud network security infrastructure solutions, including hybrid connectivity, firewalls, WAFs, intrusion prevention and detection systems, DLP tools, etc.
  • Collaborate with security and infrastructure teams to implement consistent technical solutions and support processes.
  • Evaluate and harden tooling and instrumentation to prevent cybersecurity exploits.
  • Prepare and update cybersecurity procedures, standards, and technical requirement documents.
  • Provide input on the roadmap for addressing capability gaps, maturity improvements, and innovations.
  • Perform and/or coordinate regular security assessments of existing or new infrastructure.
  • Assist in establishing practices and system configurations to ensure the safety of enterprise system assets and protect against access, compromise, or destruction.
  • Monitor and audit information systems activities to confirm security policy compliance and provide management with security assessments and reports.
  • Work with stakeholders to provide security solutions that support business requirements.
  • Conduct security risk assessments on new products and systems, and periodic assessments on existing systems, recommending appropriate security measures.
  • Identify security gaps exposing the enterprise to potential exploits and develop remediation plans.
  • Mentor and develop team members, promote security knowledge sharing, and enterprise security training.
  • Assist with on-call support as needed.
What You’ll Bring To The Company:

Required:

  • Experience or familiarity with public cloud computing - AWS (preferred), Azure, and/or GCP.
  • Ability to interpret security data and processes to identify compliance issues.
  • Ability to understand complex data flows and identify security requirements.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills for engaging with all business areas.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively.
  • Innovative, responsive, with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Goal-oriented, organized, and motivated to learn and advance.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or IT-related field, and/or over ten years of relevant experience.
  • Seven or more years of experience in enterprise hardware/software development and network design/support.
  • Experience with agile methodologies.
