We are looking for a mission-focused and technically capable Cybersecurity Engineer to support a global information systems security program for the OBO. This role provides critical cybersecurity services to over 40 information systems and supports OBO's global IT infrastructure, including classified, unclassified, on-premises, and cloud-based environments.

This position is primarily remote; however, candidates must reside in the Washington, DC metro area and be available for onsite work if required by government mandates. All classified work must be performed onsite at secure government locations in Arlington, VA.

The Cybersecurity Engineer will be responsible for securing enterprise systems, monitoring threats, and ensuring compliance with federal cybersecurity regulations. Responsibilities include supporting ISSO functions, vulnerability management, DevSecOps integration, and audit readiness across domestic and overseas OBO environments.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Security Operations and Monitoring: Identify and respond to threats using tools like Splunk, Tanium, and Sentinel. Monitor logs, perform incident response, and handle classified spillage containment, forensics, and reporting as required.
  2. Vulnerability Assessment and Remediation: Conduct vulnerability scans and penetration testing with Nessus, Metasploit, Wireshark. Document findings, implement remediations, and ensure compliance with security benchmarks.
  3. DevSecOps and Secure Configuration: Integrate cybersecurity controls into DevSecOps pipelines, secure application builds, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud configurations across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
  4. Policy Compliance and Risk Management: Support certification and accreditation activities, develop documentation like SSPs, SARs, and SIA reviews.
  5. Audit and Documentation Support: Assist in audit preparations, maintain records of controls and exceptions, ensure documentation aligns with guidance.
  6. Cloud Security and SECaaS Integration: Implement cloud-native security tools, manage dashboards, and oversee security for cloud environments including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
  7. End-of-Day Checks and Classified Operations: Perform classified system checks, maintain secure transfer protocols, and manage assets related to the Classified Hard Drive Program. Provide security briefings to users.

Requirements

  • Active Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of cybersecurity engineering experience in federal or large enterprise environments.
  • Industry-recognized certification (CISSP, CISM, Security+, CEH, or DoD 8570 compliant).
  • Experience with SIEM platforms, vulnerability management, and NIST RMF processes.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, cloud security, and federal compliance standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting the U.S. Department of State or similar federal agencies.
  • Knowledge of Department tools like ArchAngel, ServiceNow, iApp, CyberArk.
