About the Role

At Ingersoll Rand, we're committed to protecting our global operations through innovative and effective cybersecurity solutions. We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Engineer to join our Security Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and enhancing security technologies that safeguard both traditional enterprise IT systems and industrial OT/ICS environments across our global manufacturing footprint.

This is a hands-on technical position that works closely with infrastructure, application, cloud, and manufacturing teams to develop scalable security controls, improve threat detection capabilities, automate operational processes, and strengthen the organization's overall security posture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and support security technologies across endpoint, network, cloud, identity, email, and data protection environments.
  • Develop and optimize threat detection use cases, correlation rules, and alerting capabilities within SIEM and MDR platforms.
  • Build and maintain security automation solutions that improve operational efficiency and accelerate incident response.
  • Act as a senior technical resource during cybersecurity incidents, assisting with investigation, containment, forensic analysis, and root cause determination.
  • Conduct security architecture reviews for applications, cloud environments, integrations, and newly acquired businesses.
  • Lead vulnerability management and security hardening initiatives, including configuration baselines, risk assessments, and remediation planning.
  • Develop scripts, API integrations, dashboards, and reporting solutions to enhance operational visibility and monitoring.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, procedures, and security runbooks while providing guidance and mentorship to security team members.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, security operations, or infrastructure security within a complex enterprise environment.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise security technologies such as EDR/XDR, SIEM, IAM, email security, secure web gateways, or SASE solutions.
  • Experience developing automation using Python and/or PowerShell, including integrations through REST APIs.
  • Strong understanding of the MITRE ATT&CK Framework and its application to threat detection, threat hunting, and security validation.
  • Solid knowledge of networking, operating systems, cloud security (Azure and/or AWS), and identity security concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity programs within manufacturing, industrial, or OT/ICS environments.
  • Hands-on experience with technologies such as CrowdStrike Falcon, Microsoft Security (Defender, Entra ID, Purview), Zscaler, or modern SOAR platforms.
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity initiatives related to mergers and acquisitions.
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, GCIH, GCIA, GDAT, GCED, GICSP, or cloud security certifications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Key Success Factors
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to independently lead projects from design through implementation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity.
Work Arrangement & Travel
  • This is a remote position.
  • Occasional travel of approximately 10-15% is required.
  • Travel may include visits to manufacturing facilities, corporate offices, and acquisition sites to support security projects, assessments, and integration activities.
