The Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides information technology leadership and support to the Georgia Institute of Technology, working in partnership with academic and business units to meet the unique needs of a leading research university. OIT serves as the primary source of enterprise‑wide information technology and telecommunications services in support of students, faculty, staff, and researchers.

Job Summary

Cybersecurity Engineers design and implement secure network architectures and solutions to protect the institution's digital assets against cyber threats. This role involves analyzing security requirements, developing security protocols, and collaborating with IT teams to ensure the effective deployment of security technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure network architectures and solutions to protect the institution's digital assets from internal and external threats.
• Analyze security requirements and develop security policies, standards, and procedures to guide the implementation of cybersecurity measures.
• Conduct security assessments and penetration testing to evaluate the effectiveness of existing security controls and identify areas for improvement.
• Monitor security alerts and events to identify and respond to potential threats, ensuring that vulnerabilities are addressed in a timely manner.
• Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices to ensure that the institution's security posture remains robust.
• Develop and deliver training programs for technical staff on secure coding practices and the implementation of security controls in system designs.
• Document security processes, configurations, and incident response procedures to ensure compliance and facilitate knowledge sharing within the organization.
• Participate in incident response activities, including investigating breaches, analyzing their impact, and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with Information Technology teams to deploy and configure security technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption solutions.
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Educational Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Required Experience: Eight or more years of relevant experience.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Experience administering and supporting Network Access Control (NAC) solutions, preferably ClearPass or similar platforms.
• Experience with certificate management and certificate‑based auth.
• Experience designing and implementing network security controls, including segmentation, firewall policies, secure remote access, and Zero Trust architectures.
• Hands‑on experience with Zscaler technologies, including ZIA, ZPA, and Client Connector.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, authentication technologies (802.1X, RADIUS, TACACS+), and Identity & Access Management (IAM).
• Experience integrating security technologies with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), MFA, SIEM, and endpoint management platforms.
• Ability to lead security initiatives, develop technical standards, and collaborate across infrastructure, networking, and cybersecurity teams.

Proposed Salary Up to $120,278. Depending on experience and preferred skills.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

This job requires advanced knowledge of complex concepts, practices and procedures associated with IT systems design, installation and maintenance. Expert knowledge in variety of applications and platforms is required.
