Job Summary

Cybersecurity Operations Analysts monitor and analyze security events and incidents to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities within the institution's information systems. This role involves responding to security incidents, conducting investigations, and providing recommendations for improving the institutions cybersecurity posture.

Responsibilities
  • Job Duty 1 - Monitor and analyze security events and alerts continuously to detect potential threats and vulnerabilities within the institution's information systems.
  • Job Duty 2 - Respond to security incidents by conducting thorough investigations, documenting findings, and implementing corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Job Duty 3 - Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify weaknesses in systems and applications, providing recommendations for remediation.
  • Job Duty 4 - Prepare detailed reports on security incidents, including analysis of the incident, impact assessment, and recommendations for future prevention.
  • Job Duty 5 - Stay informed about emerging cybersecurity threats and trends, evaluating their potential impact on the institution and adjusting security measures accordingly.
  • Job Duty 6 - Provide support during security audits and compliance assessments, ensuring that the institution meets regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Job Duty 7 - Develop and implement security monitoring and logging strategies to enhance the detection of suspicious activities and facilitate incident response.
  • Job Duty 8 - Train and educate staff on security best practices, fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness throughout the institution.
  • Job Duty 9 - Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to develop and maintain incident response plans and procedures that outline the institution's approach to handling security incidents.
  • Job Duty 10 - Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent, related experience.
  • Required Experience 6+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred Educational Qualifications Master's degree in related discipline or equivalent, related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing federal cybersecurity requirements according to NIST frameworks, specifically NIST 800-171.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and managing DFARS or Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) compliance for federal contracts or grants.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging and managing complex cybersecurity projects and programs with multiple stakeholders across diverse requirements including human subjects, intellectual property, fundamental research.
  • Experience as a Windows, Linux, and Mac system administrator, service management, and/or security or compliance program management
  • Background and experience in academia, research, and research computing are preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with Research Security Program requirements including NSPM-33 and Export Control.
