Job summary

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg, TX seeks an Information Security Analyst to assist with implementing and monitoring access controls, data confidentiality, system integrity, and recovery procedures across university IT resources.

You will analyze security events, support compliance with UT System policies and standards, collaborate with network security to resolve incidents, provide guidance to campus staff, and help prepare security documentation and alerts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information security or closely related field.
• 2+ years IT security, IT operations or IT audit experience.
• Familiarity with host/network vulnerabilities, CVEs, attacker methods.
• Knowledge of CIS Top 20, NIST CSF, OWASP and security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development, implementation, monitoring and support of security controls and recovery procedures.
• Analyze security solutions and investigate/resolve security events detected by systems.
• Support compliance with UT System policies and state/federal regulations.
• Collaborate with network security to resolve incidents and escalate complex issues.
• Provide security guidance to university IT staff and campus community.
• Assist in documenting security policies, alerts and notifications.
