Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Cybersecurity Threat and Vulnerability Analyst to join the Information Security Office. You will collaborate with risk management engineers to evaluate daily threats, develop response protocols, and publish vulnerability assessments to reduce campus risk.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of vulnerability management experience, strong problem solving and communication skills, and a passion for learning.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship or equivalent eligibility for access to information per project requirements.
• 1+ year experience supporting vulnerability management tools and technologies
• Strong interest in cybersecurity and risk management
• Excellent problem solving and data analysis with attention to detail
• Ability to work both independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills (synchronous and asynchronous)
• Self-motivated to learn and share knowledge

Responsibilities

• Discover and investigate security vulnerabilities including zero days.
• Analyze vulnerability data to assess priority and impact for campus.
• Publish vulnerability measures and reports accurately and promptly.
• Improve vulnerability management program through automation and better communication.
• Share technical knowledge with risk management team and propose prioritized approaches.
• Assist with vulnerability assessments, risk assessments, and zero-day exposure analysis.
• Create reports and documentation for vulnerability management.
• Stay informed of latest threats and recommend solutions for university tech.
• Perform other related functions as assigned.
