Air Force Civilian Service in Colorado Springs seeks a Cybersecurity Analyst (GS-2210-12) to join the NORAD/USNORTHCOM CIRT at Peterson Space Force Base. Relocation expenses will be paid, with recruitment/retention incentives possible based on experience.

The role requires investigating incidents, coordinating responses, developing TTPs, and advising senior leaders on cyberspace impacts to operations and homeland defense. A Top Secret/SCI clearance is required.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance with SCI access.
  • Incumbent may be subject to Counterintelligence-Scope Polygraph testing.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Cyberspace Workforce Framework proficiency at assigned levels: Foundational within 9 months; Resident within 12 months.

The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Full-Time Cybersecurity Analyst (GS-2210-12) to work at the Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT), Headquarters, North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) & United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), Directorate of Operations (NCJ6), Peterson Space Force Base (SFB), Colorado.

Relocation expenses will be paid.

Recruitment/Retention Incentives may be available based on experience.

Salary: $91,870 – $119,434 per year based on experience.

Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.

Qualifications/Requirements

In this position, you will serve as a technical expert on the Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT). Investigate incidents, maintain situational awareness of key terrain & mission systems, coordinate responses, develop Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs), and advise senior leaders on cyberspace impacts to operations and homeland defense. Work at the forefront of joint cyber defense at Peterson SFB. Make a direct impact protecting the nation.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a “Top Secret” security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • Incumbent may be subject to Counterintelligence-Scope Polygraph testing.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Cyberspace Workforce Framework work role proficiency at the assigned levels: Foundational qualification within 9 months of assignment; Resident qualification within 12 months of assignment.

Required Core Competencies
  • Cyberspace Operations: Expert knowledge of cyberspace operations, computer systems and related computer concepts, principles, and practices related to the Department of Defense (DoD) cyberspace operations and environment.
  • Policy, Doctrine & Interagency Negotiation: Significant knowledge of DoD cyberspace policy and doctrine; expert skill in negotiation and/or defense of controversial inter-command or inter-service cyberspace issues within DoD and interagency issues throughout the federal government (i.e., Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), National Security Agency (NSA), etc.).
  • Systems Analysis & Diagnostics: Knowledge of Information Technology (IT) management information systems and applications software technology to isolate causes of problems between hardware, system, and applications software programs and measure system performance and/or extend operating system capabilities.
  • Network & Security Engineering: Knowledge of the full range of IT security principles, methods, regulations, policies, products, and services sufficient to develop specifications and ensure compliance with security requirements at the Local Area Network (LAN) level.
  • Applications Software Development: Knowledge of IT systems analysis and applications software concepts, functions, techniques, and capabilities sufficient to evaluate new and emerging IT security methods and principles, propose new systems and applications software projects, design, write, debug, and maintain information systems and applications.
  • Complex Project Execution: Knowledge of IT management information systems requirements and application software development techniques required in carrying out project assignments of considerable difficulty and with little specificity regarding the approach to be followed.
