Job summary

Cogent Communications in Washington, DC seeks a Cybersecurity Analyst (Security & AI Governance) to protect information assets, infrastructure, and AI initiatives. You will work with IT, dev teams and stakeholders to align with policies and governance frameworks.

The role emphasizes risk assessment, incident response, and governance of AI solutions, with duties spanning security monitoring, audits, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Degree in Cybersecurity, CS, IS, Data Science or related field.
• 2–5 years in cybersecurity or related technical role.
• Experience with security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security systems, networks, apps, cloud platforms for threats.
• Analyze security alerts and investigate incidents for remediation.
• Support incident response and post-incident analysis.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation.
• Review security logs from firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoints, cloud.
• Perform risk analyses of systems, apps, AI solutions, and processes.
• Develop and improve cybersecurity and AI governance policies.
• Collaborate with IT and dev teams on secure-by-design practices.
• Participate in governance of internally developed AI solutions and vendors.
• Evaluate third-party AI vendors for cybersecurity, privacy and compliance.
• Identify risks related to generative AI, LLMs, data leakage, AI supply chain.
• Maintain reports and dashboards on cybersecurity operations and risk.
