Job summary

Cogent Communications is seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst (Security & AI Governance) to protect the organization’s information assets, technology, applications, cloud environments, data, and AI initiatives from cyber threats and misuse.

The role partners with IT, software developers, business stakeholders, and external partners to ensure cybersecurity and AI initiatives align with security policies, standards, regulatory requirements, and AI governance frameworks, reporting to CIO and CISO

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate degree in Cybersecurity, CS, IS, Data Science, or related field.
• 2–5 years in cybersecurity, information security, cloud security, or related technical role.
• Experience with security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, risk assessment, and security control implementation.
• Familiarity with generative AI, machine learning concepts, LLMs, or AI-enabled business applications.
• Strong hands-on information security skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Analyze security alerts and investigate incidents to determine root causes and remediation actions.
• Support incident response activities including containment, eradication, and recovery.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation with stakeholders.
• Review security logs from firewalls, IDS/IPS, cloud environments, and AI platforms.
• Assist in developing and improving cybersecurity and AI governance policies and controls.
