Job summary

Peraton's Cyber Missions team is seeking a Cyber Systems Engineer / Information System Security Officer (ISSO) in Annapolis Junction, MD to secure critical systems and ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity frameworks. This role emphasizes mission-driven work protecting national security assets and critical infrastructure.

As the ISSO, you will lead IA initiatives, perform risk assessments, and support Certification & Accreditation while maintaining a strong security posture across complex

Qualifications

• 5+ years as an ISSO on projects of similar scope and complexity.
• DoD 8570 IAM Level I or higher.
• TS/SCI clearable with current polygraph.
• Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Information Systems Security Approval Authority for systems under your purview.
• Provide technical guidance and compliance expertise across IA initiatives.
• Plan, coordinate, and enforce cybersecurity best practices across multiple systems and projects.
• Maintain a strong operational security posture for mission-critical environments.
• Develop and implement security policies, standards, and methodologies to meet federal requirements.
• Support daily security operations, including monitoring, incident response, and log analysis.
• Perform vulnerability and risk assessments to support C&A efforts.
• Evaluate and validate security solutions for handling classified data.
• Oversee configuration management and Security Impact Assessments.
