Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University’s Information Technology Services Division, within the ARL, seeks a Cyber Security Systems Engineer for high-security Special Program environments in Reston, VA.

The role provides advanced systems engineering, admin, computing support, and specialized services to ensure security, compliance, functionality, and reliability of systems through hands-on configuration and support.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Counter-Intelligence poly.
• Security+ CE or CISSP or CASP+/CySA+ or similar certification.
• Strong understanding of cyber security, system administration, and networking fundamentals in a heterogeneous network.
• Experience in a government-regulated environment with security/event log auditing.
• Knowledge of RMF, NIST 800-53, and regulatory requirements in gov environments.
• Linux and Windows admin and secure config in gov-regulated settings.
• Experience with Cisco security infrastructure and vulnerability scanning tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, evaluate, and manage new and existing security services, controls, and procedures.
• Monitor ARL Special Program networks and respond to cybersecurity incidents.
• Provide systems engineering and administration support for ARL networks.
• Respond to alerts and requests from multiple security systems and IT teams.
• Conduct risk assessments and determine mitigations to residual risk.
• Ensure installations conform to government regulations and maintain compliance docs.
• Collaborate with IT teams to design secure technical infrastructures.
