CYBER SECURITY SPECIALIST

We are seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Specialist to support our internal and client-facing cybersecurity needs on a part-time basis. This individual will provide subject matter expertise in security risk management, vulnerability assessments, system hardening, and compliance with applicable cybersecurity standards such as NIST 800-53, FISMA, FedRAMP, and DISA STIGs. The role is ideal for a self-starter with a strong technical background who can provide flexible, scalable support to ensure systems and operations remain secure and compliant.

Location: Remote (U.S.)
Clearance: Secret
Position Type: Part-Time (Hourly / Flexible Schedule)


Responsibilities

  • Support security assessments, audits, and compliance activities for internal systems and government programs.
  • Perform vulnerability scans and assist with remediation planning and execution.
  • Implement and advise on security best practices across cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining security documentation (e.g., POA&Ms, SSPs, policies, and procedures).
  • Provide guidance on the application of security controls and compliance requirements (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP, STIGs).
  • Monitor security logs and participate in incident response as needed.
  • Support Authority to Operate (ATO) and continuous monitoring processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Certification Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Qualifications Required

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant cybersecurity experience.
  • Familiarity with risk management frameworks (RMF), NIST 800-53, and DISA STIGs.
  • Experience conducting vulnerability scans using tools such as Nessus, Qualys, or similar.
  • Strong analytical and written communication skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • Active security certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, CISM, CEH, or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting Federal clients or working in regulated environments (DoD, DHS, etc.).
  • Familiarity with cloud security (AWS, Azure, or OCI) and FedRAMP environments.

Clearance Required

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
