Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior security engineer to provide analytical and technical security recommendations, define security requirements, and negotiate them with clients for DoD-related systems.

You will review policies and patch levels, ensure safe transitions to production, and lead incident response while coordinating with Enterprise Architect and IT teams to implement RMF-aligned controls. CISSP and TS w/SCI are required.

Qualifications

  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must possess and maintain a TS w/SCI eligibility.
  • CISSP, or equivalent IAM II or DOD 8140 Level II certification
  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of 15 years relevant experience, including 5 years directly supporting the DoD
  • Strong knowledge and experience applying DoDD 8500.1 Information Assurance
  • Strong knowledge and experience applying DoDD 8520.1 Protection of SCI
  • Strong knowledge and experience applying DoDI 8510.01 Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DoD Information Technology
  • Strong knowledge and experience applying DoD 8570.01M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program
  • Strong knowledge and experience applying DoDI 8580.1 Information Assurance in the Defense Acquisition Process
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree
  • Preferred: 10 years of relevant experience
  • Preferred: Minimum of 3 years providing direct support to the DoD
  • Preferred: Knowledge and experience with NIST 800-53 and DoD Risk Management Framework tools (eMASS/Xacta)

Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical and technical security recommendations to team members, oversight boards, and clients
  • Identify security requirements resulting from organizational needs or security issues
  • Meet with clients and management to specify and negotiate application security requirements
  • Review policies, procedures, and operating-system security patch levels
  • Ensure safe transition of applications to production
  • Develop, debug, test, and support the certification process
  • Create, maintain, and document security baselines
  • Evaluate and recommend secure remote configurations
  • Participate in technical work groups to recommend security configurations and architecture
  • Liaise with Enterprise Architect, WAN, LAN, and Enterprise Management Teams to communicate and architect security solutions
  • Develop documentation supporting security systems operations, maintenance, and problem resolution
  • Coordinate with IT staff to implement solutions meeting or exceeding customer expectations
  • Provide risk analysis for vulnerabilities, incidents, and change requests
  • Serve as technical lead during security incident response
