Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking a Cyber Security Project Engineer to join our team in Herndon, VA. The role focuses on penetration testing and ethical hacking to identify risks, assess vulnerabilities, and provide actionable data for strategic decisions.

You will document risks, perform analyses, review architecture and test plans, and lead testing activities while briefing management on progress and results. A strong background in cyber security and hands-on testing is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in cyber security or related IT field.
• Hands-on penetration testing experience using tested plans.
• Experience applying adversarial tactics to security testing.
• Knowledge of computer attack methods and exploitation techniques.
• Solid security principles for Linux, Windows, and virtual platforms.
• Experience designing, testing, or implementing IT security architecture.
• Experience performing network security analysis.
• Experience analyzing network architectures.
• Experience using network management tools.
• Experience developing risk management methodologies.
• Experience analyzing test results to develop risk and threat mitigation plans.
• Experience testing or reviewing enterprise systems and hypervisors.
• Experience designing, testing, or implementing complex Windows installations.
• Bachelor's degree and relevant certifications (CEH/OSCP/GPEN).

Responsibilities

• Document identified system risks, planned test procedures, and results.
• Analyze vulnerabilities identified during testing.
• Review program-level docs: requirements, architecture, design, test plans, security plans.
• Create and document penetration testing plans and procedures.
• Conduct hands-on penetration testing per approved plans.
• Analyze test results, document risks, and recommend countermeasures.
• Participate in or lead technical exchange meetings and review boards.
• Document action items and results from meetings and boards.
• Brief management on status of actions and results.
