Job summary

Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking a Cyber Security Project Engineer to join our team in Herndon, VA. The role focuses on advanced penetration testing and risk assessment for enterprise information systems, delivering documented and actionable data to senior decision makers.

The position requires demonstrated cyber security experience, proficiency in penetration testing, and the ability to leverage adversarial testing methods to identify vulnerabilities and countermeasures.

Qualifications

• Minimum cyber security experience in an IT field.
• Experience with cyber penetration testing.
• Experience leveraging adversarial tactics for hands-on security testing.
• Experience applying computer attack methods and system exploitation techniques.
• Working knowledge of security for Linux, Windows and VM platforms.
• Experience designing or implementing IT security architecture.
• Experience performing network security analysis.
• Experience analyzing network architectures.

Responsibilities

• Document all identified system risks, planned test procedures and results.
• Perform analyses of vulnerabilities identified during testing.
• Review program-level documentation (requirements, architecture, design, test plans, security plans).
• Create and document penetration testing plans and procedures.
• Conduct hands-on penetration testing per approved plans.
• Analyze test results, document risks and recommend mitigations.
• Participate in or lead technical exchange meetings and review boards.
• Brief management on status of actions and results.
