Job summary

Everforth Apex seeks an entry-level Cyber Security Network Specialist to join its Cybersecurity Operations team in Washington, DC. The role focuses on network defense, RMF monitoring, and information verification, supporting policies, programs, and compliance.

Responsibilities include facilitating A&A efforts, conducting Defensive Cyber Operations, reviewing SAARs, coordinating firewall/DLP needs, and maintaining authorization packages with ongoing system reviews to address vulnerabilities.

Qualifications

• Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
• Education: Bachelor's degree required; more experience accepted in lieu of degree.
• Experience: 0–3 years in cyber security; IT vs cyber security distinction required.
• Technical Skills: Experience with Active Directory required.
• Certifications: CompTIA Security+ CE or higher DoD 8570 IAT Level II.

• Support development and management of cybersecurity policy, programs, and compliance.
• Implement a CND team to respond to computer security incidents.

• Coordinate firewall changes and DLP waivers with relevant entities.
• Prepare, review, and update authorization packages.
• Perform periodic reviews of information systems for security package compliance.
• Identify vulnerabilities and help implement countermeasures.
• Conduct security impact analyses on CM changes.

Cyber Security Network Specialist

Location: Washington, District of Columbia (Onsite)

Role Overview

We are seeking an entry-level Cyber Security Network Specialist to join a Cybersecurity Operations team. This role involves supporting cybersecurity policies, programs, and initiatives. The specialist will focus on cyber security network defense, continuous monitoring within the Risk Management Framework (RMF), and information verification.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate Assessment and Authorization efforts to support the mission defense team.
• Conduct active and passive Defensive Cyber Operations for In-House-Data-Management (DCO-IDM) to monitor, audit, detect, report, analyze, and mitigate threats.
• Support the development and management of cybersecurity policy, programs, and compliance.
• Implement a Computer Network Defense (CND) team to respond to computer security incidents.
• Review and validate System Authorization Access Request (SAAR) forms to enforce compliance with regulations.
• Work with entities for firewall rule changes and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) waivers.
• Prepare, review, and update authorization packages.
• Conduct periodic reviews of information systems to ensure compliance with the security authorization package.
• Identify cyber security vulnerabilities and assist with the implementation of countermeasures.
• Conduct security impact analysis activities on all configuration management changes.

Required Qualifications

Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Education: A bachelor's degree is required. Additional years of applicable experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.

Experience: 0-3 years of prior relevant experience in cyber security. Candidates should understand the difference between IT support and cyber security.

Technical Skills: Experience with Active Directory is required.

Certifications: CompTIA Security+ CE or a higher DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification is required.
