Job summary

Xcelerate Solutions in Bethesda, MD is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer (TS/SCI) to design, implement, and secure DoD systems on-site with hybrid flexibility. You will drive RMF activities, develop security documentation, and collaborate with ISSOs and developers to maintain approved configurations.

Qualifications

• BS degree and 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with ability to obtain a Poly.
• At least one DoD 8570.01-M IASAE Level II certs: CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP, CSSLP, or CASP+ CE.
• Developer experience in scripting language.
• Experience reviewing cybersecurity vulnerabilities for risk and remediation planning.
• Ability to architect and deploy vulnerability scanning solutions.
• Experience with RMF and NIST guidance.
• Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Knowledge of middleware/web technologies.
• Experience with databases and networking fundamentals.
• Familiar with CI/CD platforms.
• Knowledge of NIST/NIST SSDF/CMMC requirements.
• Experience supporting RMF across DoD/IC systems.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support secure architecture, design, and implementation of DoD systems in accordance with DoDI 8510.01, NIST SP 800-53.
• Lead RMF integration into the SDLC, including selecting and validating security controls.
• Develop and maintain SSPs, SARs, Risk Assessments, and POA&Ms.
• Collaborate with ISSOs, ISSMs, developers, and system owners on secure configurations.
• Apply STIGs and validate compliance using SCAP tools.
• Maintain scanning infrastructure and updates for apps, DBs, and servers.
• Analyze vulnerability scans and mitigate or accept risks per DoD policy.
• Provide input to support system authorization and ATO processes.
• Participate in architecture reviews and engineering design reviews.
• Develop automation or security tools to improve compliance and monitoring.
• Support incident response and forensics with ISSMs.
