OT Cyber Security Engineer | Utilities Firm | Remote, USA | $120k-$150k

Are you ready to take the lead in protecting critical infrastructure? Join a dynamic team as an OT Cyber Security Engineer, where your expertise will directly support the security and compliance of control center OT systems that power communities.

In this high-impact role, you will work at the intersection of cybersecurity and operational technology—designing, implementing, and maintaining a suite of security solutions across a complex OT environment. You will play a key role in ensuring NERC CIP compliance while supporting a reliable and resilient energy grid.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain OT security tools, including configuration monitoring, logging, vulnerability assessments, asset inventory, and change management.
• Install, configure, and support system hardware and software in accordance with operational and security standards.
• Monitor system performance, review logs, and perform proactive security checks to identify and mitigate threats.
• Maintain detailed documentation related to system configurations, procedures, and compliance evidence.
• Support internal and external compliance audits and assist with regulatory reporting requirements.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, operators, technicians, and vendors to ensure robust security posture across OT systems.
• Contribute to ongoing improvements in automation, system monitoring, and baseline configurations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4–6 years of experience in OT cybersecurity, preferably within the electric utility industry.
• Experience with NERC CIP compliance, control center operations, and security best practices.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using tools such as PowerShell or Python.
• Working knowledge of tools such as Tripwire Enterprise, Splunk, IP360, BigFix, and ChangeGear.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 4+ years securing NERC CIP environments
• Experience with Energy Management Systems (EMS) and SCADA.
• Industry certifications such as GIAC, CompTIA Security+, ISC2, or Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE).
• Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
• Familiarity with NERC, FERC, and RTO/ISO protocols and standards.
