The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Cyber Security Directorate (CSD) is leading one of the most comprehensive, mission critical cybersecurity operations in the federal government-protecting the digital infrastructure that safeguards America's borders. This multifaceted program spans 24/7/365 Security Operations Center (SOC) monitoring, advanced threat intelligence, forensics, incident response, cloud and network security engineering, zero trust modernization, vulnerability assessment, and enterprise-wide risk and compliance activities. The Cyber Risk Management Analyst will support teams at the forefront of national security, supporting sophisticated cyber operations that defend vital systems, enable secure mission execution, and counter rapidly evolving threats. The Cyber Risk Management Analyst plays a critical role in strengthening the organization's cybersecurity posture by assessing risks, evaluating security controls, and supporting enterprise‑wide governance efforts. Operating within a mission‑driven environment, this analyst provides meaningful insights that inform leadership decisions, drive remediation activities, and enhance overall cyber resilience. You will:
Contribute to applying risk frameworks, assessing potential threats, and preparing clear, actionable risk documentation for stakeholder awareness.
Review system security plans, policies, and control implementations for adherence to NIST‑aligned frameworks (e.g., RMF, CSF).
Assess the sufficiency of existing security controls and recommend appropriate remediation or mitigation strategies.
Contribute to compliance activities, audit preparations, and documentation packages.
Develop high‑quality risk statements, findings summaries, and decision‑support materials for technical and non‑technical audiences.
Monitor remediation progress, validate closure artifacts, and verify control improvements as part of the risk mitigation lifecycle.
Assist with the creation and refinement of risk registers, dashboards, and other reporting tools that provide leadership situational awareness.
Collaborate with program teams, system owners, ISSOs, and engineering groups to gather evidence, clarify risk drivers, and support timely resolution.
Help standardize risk methodologies and documentation practices across projects.
Minimum of three (3) years in cybersecurity or risk management.
Understanding of NIST frameworks and security control assessments.
Solid analytical and writing skills.
Strong understanding of NIST frameworks and security control assessment concepts.
Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to break down complex problems and articulate risk clearly.
Excellent writing and communication skills for developing professional risk documentation.
Ability to work collaboratively across diverse technical and operational teams.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership capabilities.
Familiarity with IT system lifecycle processes, cybersecurity environments, or federal IT delivery.
Preferred certifications: CompTIA Security+
Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC)
NIST RMF Practitioner (various providers)
Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity or a related field preferred.
Previous or Current CBP Background Investigation desired.

The likely salary range for this position is $93,662 - $117,875. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
