Command Post Technologies, Inc. seeks an experienced Cyber Range Operations Engineer to support the National Cyber Range Complex in Destin, Florida. This on-site role involves planning, configuring, executing, and sustaining cyber range events and infrastructure with occasional travel.

You will work with VMware environments, Windows and Linux systems, and DoD IT contexts, ensuring range readiness, security compliance, and effective collaboration with stakeholders and government teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and 5+ years of related experience.
• Experience configuring test environments, deploying VMs, and validating readiness.
• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Experience with OS administration (Windows, Linux) and Cisco environments.
• Background supporting DoD IT systems, test support, or range infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead or assist in configuring test environments and deploying virtual machines.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and Government to ensure proper range setup and event timeline.
• Troubleshoot system, network, and connectivity issues during range execution.
• Apply risk mitigation, track issues, and support after-action reviews and range reset activities.
• Contribute to SOPs, technical documentation, and planning tools.

Job description

Command Post Technologies (CPT) is seeking an experienced and driven Cyber Range Operations Engineer to join our team supporting the National Cyber Range Complex (NCRC) in Destin, FL. This is a dynamic, on-site position requiring a strong balance of technical expertise and collaboration skills to support the planning, configuration, execution, and sustainment of cyber range events and infrastructure. Occasional travel may be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading or assisting in configuring test environments, deploying virtual machines, managing network connections, and validating system readiness
• Collaborating with event stakeholders, participants, and the Government to ensure proper range setup, system access, and event timeline adherence
• Troubleshooting and resolving system, network, and connectivity issues during range execution
• Applying risk mitigation practices, tracking issues, and supporting after-action reviews and range reset activities
• Contributing to the development and improvement of range SOPs, technical documentation, and planning tools
• Monitoring system and resource utilization during events to ensure range stability and performance
• Maintaining configuration control and assisting in change management activities
• Ensuring all technical activities comply with cybersecurity requirements, physical and personnel security controls, and documentation standards

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Cyber Security, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Working knowledge of VMware tools, including vSphere and ESXi
• Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility
• Experience in Operating System Administration, including Windows, Linux, and Cisco environments
• Experience providing support for planning, coordination, configuration, and execution of cyber T&E or training events
• Familiarity with DoD IT systems, test support systems, and/or range infrastructure in classified and unclassified environments
• Ability to independently apply technical knowledge across a variety of tasks related to test planning, execution, and range support
• Strong technical writing skills to support preparation of event documentation, status updates, and procedures
• Demonstrated experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced environments
• Must be able to lift, carry, and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance

Desired Skills

• Familiarity with system configuration and operation of switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN technologies
• Ability to apply STIGs and maintain security posture across systems and networks
• Familiarity with virtualized enclave segmentation and NetApp storage systems
• CCNA, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent technical certification
• Experience using Python and SQL
• VMware Certified Professional or Microsoft Certified Solutions certification a plus
• Prior military or DoD contractor experience strongly desired
