Job summary

Alston & Bird LLP in Washington, DC, is seeking a Cyber Practice Specialist to support our Privacy, Cyber, and Data Strategy team. You will coordinate deadlines, staffing, budgets, reporting, communications, and other aspects of matter management, working closely with attorneys, clients, and outside providers.

The role spans practice operations, status updates, dashboards, playbooks, process improvements, client programs, training, business development, and knowledge management.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in practice support, legal ops, or related professional services environment.
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects, shifting priorities, and time-sensitive deadlines.
• Experience working with senior professionals and coordinating across clients, business teams, and outside providers.
• Familiarity with budgets, billing, reporting, or other aspects of matter administration.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to organize and present information clearly.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with reporting or project management tools.
• Availability to support urgent team needs outside standard business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Matter and Practice Support: Maintain workplans, deadlines, staffing information, budgets, risks, and next steps; prepare reports and briefing materials for attorneys and clients; participate in meetings and document decisions; assist with staffing coordination and transitions; support post-matter reviews.
• Client, Vendor, and Team Coordination: Coordinate routine communications and information flow among attorneys, clients, internal departments, and outside service providers; provide timely progress updates; support handoffs across teams and partners.
• Financial and Administrative Support: Track matter budgets, fees, expenses, and financial information; support timekeeping and task coding; compile recurring reports on activity and priorities.
• Process Improvement and Practice Development: Maintain playbooks, dashboards, checklists, and templates; identify improvements to workflows and reporting; coordinate materials for meetings, client programs, and trainings; support business development and knowledge management.
