Job summary

SyMec LLC in the United States seeks a Cyber Engineer to design, implement, and maintain security controls across DoD programs. You will work with systems engineers, ISSMs/ISSOs, and leadership to ensure Authority to Operate (ATO) and strengthen defenses against evolving threats.

Requires active DoD Top Secret clearance, 3–5 years of cybersecurity engineering, RMF/NIST 800-53, STIG experience, and DoD 8140/IAT Level II cert.

Qualifications

• Active DoD Top Secret clearance.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 3–5+ years hands-on cybersecurity engineering experience.
• DoD 8140/IAT Level II+ certification at time of hire.
• RMF/NIST 800-53/STIG experience.
• US citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Engineer and integrate security solutions across networks, endpoints, and cloud environments supporting DoD programs.
• Implement RMF and NIST SP 800-53 controls.
• Apply DISA STIGs and remediate findings from ACAS/Nessus/SCAP scans.
• Support ATO packages, SSPs, POA&Ms, and artifacts in eMASS.
• Configure and tune SIEM, EDR, firewalls, and IDS/IPS.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and lead remediation.
• Support incident response, continuous monitoring, and CCRI audits.
• Contribute to secure architecture reviews and Zero Trust initiatives.
