The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is establishing and strengthening its cybersecurity program framework, with this role at the center of cyber operations and incident response.

Working onsite in Washington, DC, the Cybersecurity Specialist will help shape long-range cybersecurity plans, coordinate response activities, and support executive decision-making with timely analysis of cyber events across the agency’s network environment.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Public Trust position: background investigation.
• 52 weeks of specialized experience at the next lower grade level.
• Experience in Azure Cloud security.
• Experience in incident response and handling methodologies.
• Knowledge of NIST SP 800-53 and SP 800-37.
• Ability to clearly communicate complex information.

Responsabilités

• Coordinate cyber operations and incident response activities.
• Develop and maintain IT cybersecurity plans and policies.
• Act as incident response coordinator for cybersecurity operations.
• Monitor network activity and report suspicious events.
• Implement and manage cyber defense tools and review outputs.
• Conduct threat and vulnerability assessments and test new technologies.
• Assess risks and recommend mitigation to senior leadership.
• Develop and maintain strategic cybersecurity plans with metrics.
• Analyze cyber events and network data to identify trends.
• Provide proactive containment measures for identified incidents.
• Perform real-time incident handling for CSIRT support.
• Conduct malware analysis and correlate incident data for reports.
• Evaluate IT security tools and install/configure new hardware/software.
