Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Cyber AI Deployment Engineer to partner with customers and help apply OpenAI models, APIs, Codex, and agentic workflows to cybersecurity use cases. You will work with CISOs and security teams to identify where AI can deliver measurable outcomes.

This is a customer-facing technical role requiring the ability to move between executive strategy, cyber depth, and hands-on solution design. Relocation support is offered for SFHQ.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of customer-facing security engineering or related experience.
• Expertise across AppSec, cloud security, identity, and vulnerability management.
• Ability to communicate credibly with CISOs and security executives.
• Hands-on experience building protos with APIs and scripting (Python/JS).
• Knowledge of AI workflows with retrieval, guardrails and telemetry.

Responsibilities

• In this role, you will embed with strategic customers as the technical lead for AI-enabled cybersecurity workflows.
• Lead discovery across AppSec, DevSecOps, SOC/IR, and related use cases.
• Build and deliver demos, prototypes, workshops, proofs of concept, and reference architectures using OpenAI tools.
• Scope pilots with clear success criteria, data requirements, and security constraints.
• Advise customers on safe implementation patterns including tool calling, structured outputs, sandboxing, and auditability.
• Translate between executive and practitioner audiences to communicate value and risk.
• Create reusable field assets such as playbooks, FAQs, and assessment templates.
• Provide high-signal feedback to Product/Engineering/Research/Security and GTM teams.
