Job summary

Bozeman Community Food Co-op is hiring for a part-time Front End role focusing on cashiering, stocking, and providing friendly customer service. Shifts include Monday 8am-2pm, Thursday 8am-2pm, Friday 3pm-9:15pm, and Saturday 9am-3pm, with a minimum of 2 shifts per week.

Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work a flexible schedule. Responsibilities include processing purchases, handling SNAP/EBT and alcohol sales regulations, assisting with memberships,

Qualifications

  • Experience in customer service or retail preferred.
  • Cashiering experience is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist customers with friendly, prompt service.
  • Process transactions accurately and ring prices/PLUs correctly.
  • Stock and face groceries; maintain clean and organized shelves.
  • Assist with memberships, returns, special orders and carryout as needed.
  • Follow store policies and escalate to a manager for unresolved issues.

Job description

A part-time position is available. Shifts are Monday 8am-2pm, Thursday 8am-2pm, Friday 3pm-9:15pm, and Saturday 9am-3pm. Need to be available for a minimum of 2 shifts per week.Purpose: Provide friendly, attentive, and prompt service for customers while cashiering, stocking, and facing groceries in an efficient and accurate manner.Specific Responsibilities of CashiersCustomer Service & CashieringMaintain awareness of and acknowledge customers standing in line; proactively call for back up as needed.Check out all purchases efficiently and accurately, ring prices and PLUs correctly and into the appropriate department. Fix any mistakes with the help of PIC or managers.Comply with regulations regarding SNAP benefits/EBT cards, and alcohol sales.Assist other cashiers with customer service tasks, i.e., bagging groceries, selling memberships and related paperwork, returns, special orders and carryout.Be familiar with Co-op policies and department products to better answer customer questions referring unresolved inquiries or problems to a manager or shift supervisor.Be informed about the benefits of membership and provide customers with membership materials as requested.Help customers with placing and picking up special orders, as designated.Provide information to the Front End Service Manager or Front End Assistant Manager regarding price discrepancies.Cash Responsibilities (when in closing and opening shifts, as directed)Both opening and closing:Ensure that the key to the count room and cash drawers is always secure and never shared.Maintain security of store during shift, ensuring that store is opened and closed following security procedures; ensure that cash cabinet remains locked.Count and verify accuracy of cash box and all drawers, complete excel logs and ensure cash is always secure.Co-Go Duties – as assignedReview, prioritize, and manage curbside orders as they are placed.Remain informed utilizing communication log; communicate effectively with teammates, Front End Service Managers, ROPs Director, Scan, and Produce Staff to ensure smooth operations.Select online order items in a timely, efficient, and careful manner following the Co-Go standards to ensure order quality.Provide excellent, proactive service answering phone calls and contacting customers as necessary.Use a digital tool in selecting and check-out processes, communicate, document, and troubleshoot issues.Properly bag and/or package orders, safely transport to and from staging area, and load orders to customer vehicles.Organize, clean, and prepare staging area(s); comply with company regulations/standards for product freshness, food safety, and sanitation.OtherAssist in stocking and facing departments throughout the store as directed to ensure a clean, abundant, and inviting atmosphere for customers.Follow all safety procedures.Complete other duties as assigned.Experience with customer service, retail sales or stocking, that demonstrates the ability or aptitude to successfully meet all expectations listed above desired.Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. throughout shift, occasionally up to 50 lbs.; ability to lift product overhead and/or climb ladders with product.Ability to stand for long periods and to bend and twist repeatedly.Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business; some early mornings, daytime, evenings, holidays, and weekend shifts may be required.
