Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks an AWS Certified Welding Inspector II to perform visual weld inspections and sign off on accept/reject determinations under project codes. You will review WPS and PQRs, witness welder qualification tests, and direct NDT as needed.

The role requires a current AWS CWI with at least 2 years of inspection experience and knowledge of D1.1 plus at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104. ICC steel/bolting cert is a plus. Travel may be involved.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with 2+ years inspection experience.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel & bolting certification preferred (sponsored if not held).
• Able to defend a rejection to a fabricator and document it so the retest closes.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspections with accept/reject authority to the governing code.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
• Witness welder qualification tests and direct nondestructive testing (NDT).
• Write inspection reports and nonconformance reports for the engineer of record and building official.
