Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates is seeking a CWI/Structural Steel Inspector for our Chantilly, VA office. You will inspect and test structural steel during erection on general commercial building sites, documenting findings per engineering practice and communicating with site contractors and project managers.

Starting salary commensurate with experience. Requirements include 2+ years in steel erection, AWS CWI or ICC Welding certification, ICC High Strength Bolting, and Level II in PT/MT/UT

Qualifications

At least 2 years' experience with construction and structural steel erection.
AWS CWI or ICC Welding certification and ICC High Strength Bolting certification.
Level II in PT, MT and UT preferred; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

Inspect and test structural steel during erection on commercial building sites.
Document findings in accordance with accepted engineering practice and communicate with site teams.
Collaborate with project managers, contractors and technicians on-site.
