Job summary

gpac is seeking an experienced CWI/QC Inspector to oversee quality control for structural steel and miscellaneous metals fabrication. The ideal candidate holds an active CWI, with experience meeting AWS D1.1 standards and a strong eye for detail in inspections.

You will verify welding and fabrication against project specifications, document results, and collaborate with welders, fabricators, and project teams to ensure compliance. This is a full-time on-site role located in California.

Qualifications

• Active AWS CWI certification is required.
• Experience with AWS D1.1 is required.
• Experience with structural steel/misc metals is preferred.
• Ability to read shop drawings and weld symbols.

Responsibilities

• Inspect structural steel and miscellaneous metals fabrication to verify conformance with project specs and codes.
• Perform visual weld inspections and review welding procedures, drawings, and inspection requirements.
• Document inspection results and maintain QC records.
• Identify and communicate quality issues and assist with corrective actions.
• Coordinate with welders, fabricators, project managers and customers to ensure compliance.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced CWI / QC Inspector to oversee quality control and inspection activities for structural steel and miscellaneous metals fabrication. The ideal candidate will hold an active CWI certification and have experience working to AWS D1.1 standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of structural steel and miscellaneous metals fabrication
• Verify welding and fabrication meet project specifications and applicable codes
• Perform visual inspections of welds and fabricated components
• Review weld procedures, drawings, and inspection requirements
• Document inspection results and maintain accurate QC records
• Identify and communicate quality issues and assist with corrective actions
• Work closely with welders, fabricators, project managers, and customers
• Ensure projects meet AWS D1.1 and applicable project requirements
• Assist with maintaining company quality control procedures

Qualifications

• Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required
• Experience with AWS D1.1 required
• Structural steel and/or miscellaneous metals experience strongly preferred
• Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, weld symbols, and project specifications
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with fabrication and project teams
