Job summary

Hilton Mechanical Contractors seeks a Certified Welding Inspector to own weld quality across our carbon steel and stainless pipe fabrication shops. This role focuses on qualifying and certifying welders and visually inspecting welds, while building a robust QC program.

CAWI candidates may be considered and will operate under a CWI. Travel to job sites is occasionally required as part of inspection duties and compliance programs.

Qualifications

• AWS CWI certification required.
• Experience inspecting carbon and stainless pipe welding.
• Ability to read piping drawings and isometrics.
• Working knowledge of ASME Section IX and B31 piping codes.

Responsibilities

• Run weld qualification program—WPS/PQR development, performance testing, continuity tracking.
• Visual inspection of carbon and stainless pipe welds (GTAW, orbital GTAW, GMAW/FCAW).
• Coordinate third-party NDE and review results.
• Maintain weld maps, MTRs, material traceability, inspection reports, and turnover packages.
• Enforce ASME B31.1/B31.3/B31.9 and AWS D1.1 compliance.
• Final inspection of pipe spools and skids before shipment.
• Root cause analysis and corrective action on rejects.
• Occasional travel to job sites.

Hilton Mechanical Contractors builds liquid cooling infrastructure for hyperscale and colocation data centers. We’re hiring a Certified Welding Inspector to own quality across our carbon steel and stainless pipe fabrication shops.

Position Summary

We are hiring a Certified Welding Inspector to own weld quality across our organization. This person is responsible for two things above all else: qualifying and certifying every welder who works for us, and visually inspecting every weld that leaves our shops. Beyond that, you will build and maintain the QC program that keeps our fabrication defensible to owners, engineers, and AHJs.

CAWI candidates working toward full CWI will be considered and will perform inspections under the direction of a CWI.

Primary Responsibilities

• Run the welder qualification program — WPS/PQR development, performance testing, continuity tracking
• Visual inspection of carbon and stainless pipe welds (GTAW, orbital GTAW, GMAW/FCAW)
• Coordinate third-party NDE and review results
• Maintain weld maps, MTRs, material traceability, inspection reports, and turnover packages

Required Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI certification
• Experience inspecting carbon and stainless pipe welding, fab shop experience preferred
• Working knowledge of ASME Section IX and B31 piping codes
• Experience writing and qualifying WPSs
• Able to read isometrics and fabrication drawings

Preferred Qualifications

• ASNT Level II NDE
• Orbital welding experience
• Data center or mission-critical process piping background
