Job summary

IEM is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector to join our on-site team in San Antonio, Texas. You will inspect welded structural steel components for skids, modular packages, and E-houses, ensuring compliance with AWS D1.1 and project specifications.

This role requires collaboration with engineering, project management, and customers to resolve welding quality issues. Based in our in-office facility, the candidate will support production, maintain quality records, and participate in

Qualifications

• Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
• Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code—Steel.
• 3–5 years welding inspection experience in structural steel or heavy fabrication.
• Experience inspecting GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, and GTAW welding processes.
• Ability to read fabrication drawings and welding symbols.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual and dimensional inspection of weldments and fabrications.
• Verify welds follow WPSs and that welders are qualified.
• Review welder qualification records, WPSs, PQRs and weld maps.
• Conduct pre-weld, in-process, and final inspections.
• Coordinate NDE inspection when required.
• Communicate findings to welders, supervisors, and customers.
