Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana is seeking a university student for a Project Management Internship in Baton Rouge. Under general supervision, you will help define project plans, monitor progress, and track milestones to keep initiatives on time and within budget.

You will work with business owners and SMEs to gather requirements, document processes, and assist in developing artifacts for successful delivery.

Qualifications

  • Undergrad junior/senior or recent graduate in a related field.
  • GPA 3.0+ preferred; minimum 2.5 GPA.

  • Identifies risk mitigation strategies to resolve problems.

  • Develops project artifacts to support successful, on-time delivery within budget.
  • Manages internal and external resources for the life of the project and supports overarching resource planning.

Job Duties
  • Under general supervision, defines project plans and implements measures to monitor and track the progress of multiple projects or programs to ensure milestones are met on time and on/or under budget.
  • Identifies risk mitigation strategies to resolve problems.
  • Contributes to developing best practices, techniques, and tools for project planning, execution, project management, ongoing milestones/deliverable tracking, communication, and key performance metrics.
  • Effectively communicate project status, issues and decisions so that all stakeholders understand the project and its complexities.
  • Identifies key issues and decisions related to the project for escalation to ensure resolution.
  • Collaborate with business owners and subject matter experts to develop an understanding of business processes and functions to aide in evaluating the success of the project, gather requirements, and identify gaps and business solutions.
  • Collaborates with business owners and technical subject matter experts to develop project artifacts in order to successfully deliver quality results on time and within budgeted parameters.
  • Identifies and manages both internal and external key resources for the life of the project to ensure tasks and deliverables are completed.
  • Collaborates with Management to develop and support division wide resource management planning best practices, techniques and tools.
Required Qualifications
  • Degree program(s) / Current Status: junior or senior level undergraduate, Master’s level or recent graduate in Computer Science, Management, Project Management, ISDS, Marketing, Economics, or related fields of study.
  • Cumulative GPA: 3.0+ GPA preferred; minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA.
  • Relevant Coursework: Experience demonstrating proficiency in planning and implementing projects including developing scope, goals, work plans, timelines, implementation strategies and measurement processes for assessing progress toward strategic and tactical goals and project outcomes.
  • Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication abilities.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to think analytically and present ideas professionally.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable to a changing work environment and team-oriented.
  • Undergraduates must be able to work 15-20 hours per week during the spring and fall semesters and 30-40 hours per week during the summer.
  • Recent graduates must be able to work 30 – 40 hours per week year-round.
  • Must be able to commute to/provide your own housing in Baton Rouge, LA.
