LaborEdge, LLC is seeking a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technician to assist during heart and major vascular surgeries. The role ensures the CVOR is prepared, sterile, and fully equipped, collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and OR staff.
You will set up instrument trays, sterilize instruments, prepare grafts and supplies, and assist with patient positioning before, during, and after procedures.
A Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technician is a surgical technology professional who specializes in assisting during heart and major vascular surgeries. They ensure the CVOR is prepared, sterile, and fully equipped, and they work closely with cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and other OR staff to support life‑saving procedures.
Pre‑Procedure
Sterilize and arrange cardiovascular instruments (e.g., clamps, forceps, sutures, cannulas).
Prepare grafts, sutures, cardioplegia delivery systems, and other supplies.
Transport and position the patient for surgery.
During Procedure
Pass instruments to the surgeon with precision, maintaining a sterile field.
Monitor and manage specialized equipment (e.g., heart‑lung bypass machine in coordination with the perfusionist).
Anticipate instrument needs based on surgical steps (cannulation, cross‑clamping, decannulation).
Maintain accurate instrument and sponge counts.
Post‑Procedure
Assist with patient transfer to recovery.
Clean and restock the CVOR for the next case.
Document any equipment or supply issues.

CVOR techs work in hospitals, surgical centers, and cardiovascular clinics, often in high‑stakes, fast‑paced environments. They collaborate with cardiac surgeons, circulating and scrub nurses, CRNAs, anesthesiologists, and perfusionists.
Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology
Proficiency with sterile technique and surgical instruments
Ability to operate and troubleshoot specialized OR equipment
Attention to detail, manual dexterity, and composure under pressure
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Typically requires completion of an accredited surgical technology program, general OR experience, and optional CVOR certification (e.g., CST‑CVOR from NBSTSA)
