Job summary

LaborEdge, LLC is seeking a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technician to assist during heart and major vascular surgeries. You will ensure the CVOR is prepared, sterile, and fully equipped, working closely with cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and OR staff.

Responsibilities include pre-procedure setup of instrument trays (200+ items), passing instruments with precision, monitoring equipment, maintaining counts, and post-procedure cleanup and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited surgical technology program.
  • General OR experience.
  • Optional CVOR certification (e.g., CST‑CVOR from NBSTSA)

Responsibilities

  • Pre-Procedure: Prepare the CVOR and set up multiple specialized instrument trays (often 200+ items for bypass cases).
  • Pre-Procedure: Sterilize and arrange cardiovascular instruments (e.g., clamps, forceps, sutures, cannulas).
  • Pre-Procedure: Prepare grafts, sutures, cardioplegia delivery systems, and other supplies.
  • Pre-Procedure: Transport and position the patient for surgery.
  • During Procedure: Pass instruments to the surgeon with precision, maintaining a sterile field.
  • During Procedure: Monitor and manage specialized equipment (e.g., heart‑lung bypass machine in coordination with the perfusionist).
  • During Procedure: Anticipate instrument needs based on surgical steps (cannulation, cross‑clamping, decannulation).
  • During Procedure: Maintain accurate instrument and sponge counts.
  • Post-Procedure: Assist with patient transfer to recovery.
  • Post-Procedure: Clean and restock the CVOR for the next case.
  • Post-Procedure: Document any equipment or supply issues.

A Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technician is a surgical technology professional who specializes in assisting during heart and major vascular surgeries. They ensure the CVOR is prepared, sterile, and fully equipped, and they work closely with cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and other OR staff to support life‑saving procedures.

Core Responsibilities

Pre‑Procedure
