Job Summary:

The Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technician is responsible for providing specialized technical support during open-heart surgeries, including cardiac bypass, valve replacements, and robotic lung cases. This role requires expertise in scrubbing for cardiovascular procedures and flexibility to assist in general operating room cases as needed. The CVOR Tech ensures all surgical instruments and equipment are prepared and maintained to support efficient and safe surgical operations.

Responsibilities:

• Scrub and assist during cardiac bypass surgeries, valve replacements, and robotic lung procedures.
• Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for cardiovascular surgeries.
• Assist in general operating room cases when not required in the CVOR.
• Maintain sterile field and adhere to infection control protocols.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other OR staff to ensure smooth surgical workflow.
• Respond promptly to call duties as required to support emergency or unscheduled cases.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Experience scrubbing cardiac bypass, valve replacement, and robotic lung cases.
• Strong knowledge of cardiovascular surgical instrumentation and procedures.
• Ability to scrub and assist in general operating room cases.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills in a surgical environment.
• Ability to respond to call within 30 minutes.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Previous experience in a cardiovascular OR setting.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist or equivalent.
• Familiarity with robotic surgical systems.

Special Considerations:

• Call duty required approximately 10 days per month, including 1 or 2 weekends.
• Must maintain a 30-minute response time when on call.
• Work environment involves exposure to surgical and sterile conditions.

Scheduling:

• Five 8-hour day shifts per week.
• Call shifts included as part of the schedule, approximately 10 days per month.
