Job summary

SCL Health is seeking an experienced Surgical Technician to assist in scrub duties, maintain sterile technique, and support the surgical team in the Denver area. You will assemble case carts, pass instruments, and help prepare patients and specimens for analysis.

Two years of Surgical Tech experience with CVOR scrubbing is required; BLS certification is required. On-site roles may require on-call shifts and occasional departmental float.

Qualifications

• Two+ years of Surgical Tech experience with CVOR scrubbing.
• CV experience as Surgical Tech for at least 1 year.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs scrub duties and maintains sterile supplies and technique.
• Assists in nursing care and preparation of surgical patients.
• Assembles and completes case carts per doctor’s preference lists.
• Provides instruments, sutures, and supplies; maintains sterile environment.
• Passes instruments to surgeon as needed during cases.
• Counts instruments and supplies per policy.
• Maintains specimen care and prepares for lab analysis; handles sharps safely.
• Turns over rooms promptly; restocks supplies and cleans instruments.
• Supports SCL Health mission and service standards.
• May float to other departments and be on-call as needed.

Job description

Job Summary

• Performs scrub duties and maintains sterile supplies and sterile technique.
• Assists in nursing care and preparation of surgical patients.
• Assembles, organizes and completes case carts according to doctor’s preference lists.
• Provides appropriate instrumentation, suture and all supplies as requested and provides and maintains a sterile environment. May assist surgeon by passing instruments to surgeon during cases.
• Counts sponges, needles, blades and instruments using proper technique and established policy.
• Assists in maintenance and care of specimens and prepares for laboratory analysis. Handles specimens, implants, dressings, soiled instruments, contaminated materials and sharps in accordance with established policy and recommended standards of practice.
• Assists with timely turnover of rooms, including clean up, replacement and restocking of supplies and equipment. Cares for instruments and equipment.
• Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need.
• May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.

Required Skills & Experience

• Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours OR Scheduled shifts is required.
• Ability to work nights and/or weekends is required for identified positions.
• Two (2) years of Surgical Tech experience, One (1) year CVOR scrubbing experience. Please include Cardio experience in resume/profile.
• Must have at least One (1) year of CV experience as a Surgical Tech.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• One (1) year clinical experience in an accredited hospital is preferred.

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Graduation from formal, accredited surgical technologist program is required.
• Training in the US military may substitute for the completion of the formal surgical technologist training.
