Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System, located in the Texas Medical Center, seeks a CVOR Certified Surgical Tech to join our OR team. This full-time role works 2:30pm-11pm, Monday–Friday, with call; CST and BLS credentials are required, and 2+ yearsCV (open heart) experience is preferred.

The position provides proficient perioperative patient care as a scrub assistant to the physician, ensures readiness of supplies/equipment, and supports safe, efficient operations in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of a Surgical Technologist Program
• License/Certification: BLS and NBSTSA or NCCT
• Experience / Knowledge / Skills: New Grad <1 year; Surg Tech I =1 year; Surg Tech II = 2-4 years; Surg Tech III = 5+ years

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge and practice of perioperative patient care concepts; demonstrates the ability to perform independently as first scrub in assigned specialty areas.
• Provides support for readiness and flow of cases to facilitate overall functioning of the unit, performing assigned duties as needed.
• Verifies functioning and adequate availability of supplies/instruments/equipment prior to the surgical procedure as indicated by the surgeon’s preference card and other available resources; demonstrates asepsis principles for optimal patient care in the OR.
• Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
• Promotes professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department goals and serves as preceptor/mentor to staff.
• Models Memorial Hermann’s service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
• Other duties as assigned.
