Job Summary

CVOR Certified Surgical Tech – Weekend Days. Full time; 6:30am‑7pm, Friday‑Sunday. CST and BLS (American Heart Association) required. 2+ years of CV (open heart) experience preferred. Up to $10,000 relocation assistance available.

Location: Texas Medical Center, Houston, TX.

Responsibilities

• Provide proficient perioperative patient care through the use of equipment and instrumentation.
• Function as a scrub assistant to the physician performing operative and/or invasive procedures.
• Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Act as a role model and resource for other staff, following the Surgical Technologist Skills Inventory.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient served.
• Understand principles of growth and development for different life cycles.
• Support readiness and flow of cases to facilitate overall functioning of the unit.
• Verify functioning and adequate availability of supplies, instruments, and equipment prior to the surgical procedure.
• Apply principles of asepsis to ensure optimal patient care in the OR.
• Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors while adhering to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards.
• Maintain time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service within budgetary specifications.
• Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting mandatory or continuing education and skills competency requirements.
• Support department-based goals and serve as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
• Model Memorial Hermann’s service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of a Surgical Technologist Program.
• Certified in Basic Life Support.
• Current certification as a Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
• Experience:
  • New Grad: less than 1 year
  • Surgical Tech I: 1 year
  • Surgical Tech II: 2–4 years
  • Surgical Tech III: 5+ years
