Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) with 1–2 years in role or 3–4 years in role.
• Must scrub proficiently on at least two surgical specialties.
• Ability to scrub under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for surgical procedures with appropriate instruments and supplies.
• Anticipates the surgeon's needs and passes instruments.
• Maintains aseptic technique and handles sharps, sponges, and trash according to procedure.
• Ensures surgeon preference cards and pick lists are accurate.
• Assists with OR turnover between cases, stocking, replenishing supplies, and cleaning rooms.
• Participates in or leads training and orientation of staff and students, as assigned.
