Job summary

Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Tech to prepare the operating room and assist the surgical team across a range of procedures. You will set up instruments, support the team, and ensure a sterile environment to contribute to patient healing.

Qualifications

• Must have completed an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist preferred.
• Licensed Vocational Nurse (CA) licensure considered.
• First Assistant - Certified Surgical Technologists or related certifications considered.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates superior knowledge and practice in the first scrub role.
• Understands supply costs and collaborates to maintain quality of care while cost containment is considered.
• Demonstrates superior knowledge of varied surgical equipment and instrumentation; ensures equipment and supplies are available for procedures.
• Assists in communication with Biomedical Services on equipment status and repairs.
• Educates staff in care of instrumentation and equipment.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Surgical Tech, you will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients.

Every day you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment. You will be expected to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively within the OR team, and contribute directly to the patient's healing process.

To be successful in this role, you must possess adaptability, a strong team-player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures.

• Demonstrates superior knowledge and practice in the first scrub role


• Understands supply costs and independently Works with team to assure that quality of care is maintained while cost containment is considered


• Demonstrates superior knowledge of the varied surgical equipment and advanced surgical instrumentation. Assures appropriate equipment and supplies are available for each procedure


• Assists in communication with Biomedical Services on the status of equipment needing repair or maintenance
