Job summary

Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in the Texas Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Tech to help prepare the operating room and surgical team for a variety of procedures. You will set up equipment and instruments, assist the team, and ensure a sterile environment to support patient healing.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED upon hire
• Minimum 3 years
• Certified Surgical Technologist upon hire
• Technologist in Surgery-Certified upon hire
• Certified First Assistant - CST upon hire
• Licensed Vocational Nurse: CA upon hire
• Basic Life Support - CPR within 14 days

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Surgical Tech, you will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients.Every day you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment. You will be expected to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively within the OR team, and contribute directly to the patient's healing process.To be successful in this role, you must possess adaptability, a strong team-player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures.

• - Demonstrates superior knowledge and practice in the first scrub role
• - Understands supply costs and independently Works with team to assure that quality of care is maintained while cost containment is considered
• - Demonstrates superior knowledge of the varied surgical equipment and advanced surgical instrumentation. Assures appropriate equipment and supplies are available for each procedure
• - Assists in communication with Biomedical Services on the status of equipment needing repair or maintenance
• - Educates staff in the care of instrumentation and equipment
