Job summary

Qualifications

• High School or GED.
• Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Current NBSTSA certification.
• One year of experience as a Surgical Tech.
• BLS certification within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Providing nursing care activities in the Operating Rooms under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit.
• Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development over the life span and assist the surgical team in accomplishing the plan of surgical care.
• Knowledge of sterile technique, sterilization procedures, surgical procedures, anatomy and physiology, and use and care of surgical instruments and equipment.
• Ensures that all Hillcrest Medical Center Policies & Procedures and JCAHO regulations are adhered to during procedures.
• Assist the Registered Nurse Coordinator in Service-specific processes.
