Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking an experienced First Assistant Registered Nurse to support the cardiovascular team in CABG and open valve procedures. You will assist CT surgeons, manage intraoperative tasks, and collaborate with physicians, anesthesia, and OR staff.

Responsibilities include preoperative nursing assessments, instrument handling, hemostasis, and postoperative care coordination. Weekend coverage and weeknight rotation are possible as described.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a recognized Nursing program.
• Minimum of two years of nursing experience.
• Must be a Registered Nurse.
• RN-First Assistant certification preferred.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Experience in CV OR, Endoscopic Vein Harvest, and first assisting surgeon.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons during operations: handling instruments, exposure, tissue cutting, hemostasis, and suturing.
• Perform pre-surgical evaluations and pre-operative nursing orders.
• Coordinate patient care with physicians and other healthcare staff.
• Support post-operative care and discharge planning.
• Collaborate with OR team across clinic, hospital and OR settings.
