Job summary

AdventHealth in Daytona Beach, FL is seeking a full-time Surgical Technologist for day shift. You will ensure instruments, supplies, and equipment are available for procedures, maintain sterile technique, and support surgical teams across patient populations.

Responsibilities

• Ensures required supplies, instruments, positioning devices, and equipment are available for all assigned procedures using preference cards.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and interacts professionally with internal and external customers.
• Maintains a sterile field and uses aseptic technique for surgical procedures.
• Assists with preparation of instruments and equipment for decontamination or sterilization.
• Performs duties in accordance with facility policies and participates in ongoing education.

Job Description:

• $15,000 Sign on Bonus (Eligibility Requirements Apply)

• Ensures required supplies, instruments, positioning devices, and equipment are available for all assigned procedures using preference cards.
• Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills, maintains patient confidentiality and interacts with all internal and external customers in a professional and courteous demeanor.
• Speaks positively to and about co-workers and the organization.
• Acceptance of constructive criticism.
• Demonstrates competency in all procedures within scope of practice and training as appropriate to all patient populations served.
• Competency includes use and applications of appropriate routine and specialty instruments, room preparations, equipment selection and positioning devices, aseptic technique and sterilization methods.
• Assists with appropriate preparation of instruments and equipment for decontamination or terminal sterilization as requested.
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of the principles of aseptic technique and maintains a sterile field for each surgical procedure.
• Verifies exposure to sterilization and integrity of sterile packaging.
• Opens supplies aseptically.
• Recognizes and recommends process improvement.
• Is committed to continuing education beyond basic knowledge required to fulfill job duties.
• Participates in training new personnel.
• Attends departmental in-services a minimum of 50% of the time as required by facility.
• Completes educational CBL's in a timely manner.
• Reports to work on time as scheduled and follows departmental attendance policy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to consistently demonstrate clear communication skills, strong anticipatory skills, and concentration to detail. [Required]
• Assembly of mechanical devices, knowledge of surgical instrumentation, and fundamental human anatomy required. [Required]
• Must be able to work well with multiple team members. [Required]

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Work Experience:

• 1+ Prior CVOR experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• State Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required] OR NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required] OR NCCT Technician in Surgery (TS-C) [Required]

Pay Range:

$21.56 - $40.09
